Originally bred in England during the 19th century to catch rats in textile mills, the breed has evolved into one of the most beloved companion dogs worldwide.

Origin:
The Yorkshire Terrier was originally bred to catch the rats that infested the mine shafts in north England and as a hunting dog that could penetrate into badger and fox burrows. The Yorkshire Terrier breed is only 100 or so years old and it's origins are not entirely certain.
